“Shift Your Gift” is a special end-of-year series featuring holiday inspiration from some of our favorite social impact brands. The Comparison

Mission Brand

Finn the Dolphin

Shore Buddies (full story)

In an effort to save marine life and keep plastics out of the ocean, Shore Buddies invented the world’s first plush toys made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. At 12″ long, Finn is made from 6 bottles that were shredded, melted, and spun into a soft yarn, and a portion of each sale is donated to $1 for the Ocean.

Mass Brand

A baby dolphin plush toy from Bellzi

Dolhpi the Dolphin

Dolphi is about the same length as Finn but more than twice the height, so if squeezable volume is your only criterion, this might be your go-to plushy gift. But there’s no social mission behind this toy and no charitable donation, so we’d say Finn offers more substance while Dolphi is more … fluff.
